My "Around the House" Tip of the Day for Friday January 26, 2024:
Pitch... We often take it for granted. If you live on a hill you have it made. Water will run off your roof into the gutters, down the leader pipes onto the ground and away. No basement seepage , no need for waterproofing and sump pumps. No need to have French drains, or even know what they are! So why did you buy that house in a low spot ? Why is water flowing towards your foundation? Or down the drive into the garage? Routing the water away, adding window well covers, and keeping the waterproofing guys busy seems to be the norm. Do you have a water alarm on the floor of your basement? Would you know if clogged gutters would ultimately cause your possessions to be bobbing in a few inches of unwanted water ? Do you have a pump to void that water, and a generator to provide electricity if the power goes out... Just some thoughts for the weekend ! Are you prepared for bad weather and unplanned leaks ? Or do you live on that hill?
