High Schoolers From Stamford Compete In Stock Market Challenge
The April 25 event is hosted by Junior Achievement of Greater Fairfield County.
From Fairfield County High School: Over 200 Fairfield County high school students will compete in the 2019 Stock Market Challenge competition on Thursday, April 25 from 9:30 – 11 a.m. at the Italian Center (1620 Newfield Ave., Stamford, CT) hosted by Junior Achievement of Greater Fairfield County.
Among VIP participants will be Richard A. Muskus, Jr., President of publicly-traded, Stamford-based Patriot Bank and Marc Gabelli, President of Gabelli Funds.
Each team of students representing local high schools will be issued $500,000 virtual cash to buy or sell shares in 26 fictitious companies. The mock trades will be instantaneously projected to three large screens, tracking stock prices, stock performance graphs and illustrating school team names with portfolio values and rankings. The three teams with the highest value in their investment portfolios will be declared the winners.

Educating younger generations on effectively managing the stock market is important in setting these students up for future success. This competition will help students develop crucial skills. Students and Patriot Bank executives will be available for interviews.
