Home Depot Co-Founder To Speak At Family Centers Event Oct. 3
The event with Ken Langone is part of Family Centers' Titans Series, and will be held at the Stamford Hilton.

From Family Centers: On Wednesday, Oct. 3 at 7:30 a.m., Family Centers will welcome Ken Langone, best known as a Co-Founder of The Home Depot, as the latest speaker in its Titans Series. The event will be held at the Stamford Hilton, located at 1 First Stamford Place.
Family Centers’ Titans Series brings America’s greatest leaders to Fairfield County for intimate and captivating discussions. Previous speakers have included Dr. Henry Kissinger, former Hewlett Packard CEO Meg Whitman, former Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Volcker, financial news anchor Maria Bartiromo and former CIA Director Jack Devine.
Drawing from themes in his best-selling memoir, I Love Capitalism, Mr. Langone will discuss the lessons he’s learned along the way to becoming a pillar of Corporate America and a world-class philanthropist. He will also recount personal stories of his self-described “unlikely rise” to prove the American Dream is still alive and well.
Tickets start at $100, and proceeds will support Family Centers’ multi-generational programs addressing the Opportunity Gap. Several exciting sponsorship opportunities, many of which include a meet and greet with Mr. Langone, are also available at www.familycenters.org.
Mr. Langone’s leadership, determination and business savvy was instrumental in organizing the financing needed to co-found The Home Depot in 1978. Since its incorporation, the home improvement chain has grown to become an international giant with nearly 2,300 locations and 400,000 employees. Mr. Langone served as the company’s lead director and a member of its executive committee until 2008. He was also a former director of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). Currently, Mr. Langone serves as CEO of Invemed, LLC, a NYSE- member firm specializing in healthcare and high technology companies.

As a philanthropist, Mr. Langone has donated millions of dollars to further advancements in healthcare and education, and support the work of charities benefitting children and families in the U.S. In 2008, the New York University Medical Center was renamed in his honor following a $200 million gift. Mr. Langone and his wife, Elaine, are also actively involved in charities including the Robin Hood Foundation, Ronald McDonald House, Harlem Children’s Zone and many others.
Family Centers is a private, nonprofit organization offering education and human services to children, adults and families in Fairfield County. More than 200 professionals and 2,500 trained volunteers work together to provide a wide range of responsive, innovative programs. A United Way, Community Fund of Darien and New Canaan Community Foundation partner agency, Family Centers is a member of the Connecticut Council of Family Service Agencies and the Alliance for Children and Families and is accredited by the the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
