ID Released Of Man Struck By Front-End Loader: Stamford Police
Police said a man was struck by a front-end loader in Stamford on Wednesday. The man was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

STAMFORD, CT — Police have released the identity of the man who was killed after he was struck by a front-end loader at a private business in Stamford on Wednesday.
Gary Deleo, 64, of Stamford, was working in the rear of a business in the 100 block of Magee Avenue at approximately 8:13 a.m. on Oct. 30 when he was struck by a front-end loader driven by a 28-year-old Stamford man, police said in an update Thursday morning.
A front-end loader is a heavy equipment machine used mostly in construction to move or load materials.

Deleo was taken to Stamford Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The driver of the front-end loader was not injured and spoke to officers at the scene, police said.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) was called and responded to the scene, police noted, adding that in these cases, OSHA is the main investigative body.

"The Stamford Police Department will support OSHA in their investigation and have a final determination when all parties have completed their respective investigations," police said in a news release.
