'Jane’s Walk' Returns To Stamford With Guided Downtown Tour: Details

STAMFORD, CT — Jane’s Walk Stamford will return May 2, inviting the community to explore downtown through a guided walking tour.

The Emerson Hall Foundation, Stamford Downtown Special Services District, and Historic Neighborhood Preservation have partnered to present the event on Saturday, May 2, at 10 a.m.

The free, community-led walk is designed to highlight the stories, spaces and shared history of Stamford Downtown.

Part of the global Jane’s Walk initiative inspired by urbanist and activist Jane Jacobs, the event encourages participants to engage with their surroundings and one another through conversation and exploration.

Participants will be guided by architectural historian Wes Haynes and Stamford Downtown Special Services District President Michael Moore. The walk will explore the ideas of Jane Jacobs as reflected in the character and quality of intentional and unexpected public and semi-public spaces in Stamford.

The tour will begin on the lawn of Emerson Hall at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Stamford and proceed south along Bedford Street, offering insight into the evolution of the downtown urban core.

The event is scheduled to last approximately 1.5 to two hours. Metered parking will be available across Forest Street in the municipal Bedford Street Garage.

The event is free and open to all ages and backgrounds. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended.
