Jeep Wrangler Stolen In Darien Reportedly Used In Stamford Shooting: Darien PD

The theft was reported Saturday morning, Sept. 30, and the shooting later that night.

DARIEN, CT — An black, 2012 Jeep Wrangler that was reported stolen from the driveway of a home in Darien on the morning of Sept. 30, was part of a police chase and shooting incident in Stamford, according to Darien police.

Details of the Stamford incident were not immediately available, but Darien police said the department was contacted by Stamford police at about 11 p.m. on the 30th "that the vehicle had been involved in a pursuit in [Stamford's] jurisdiction. It was further believed that the vehicle had been utilized in a shooting in Stamford."

Stamford police recovered the vehicle and are retaining it for the time being for its investigation, according to Darien police.

The vehicle had been reported stolen just after 9 a.m. on the 30th.

"The owner told officers that at some point during the overnight, the Jeep had been taken from his driveway," wrote Darien police in a statement. "He further stated that the vehicle had been left unlocked, and the keys were inside. The other vehicle in the driveway was undisturbed. A neighborhood canvas did not provide any further information. It was entered into DMV records as stolen."
