My "Around the House" Tip of the Day for Tuesday February 20, 2024:
Don't search for it, I took Presidents Day off... gotta take the Days off when possible. However, the leaky toilet became a holiday priority. A Kohler toilet (newer generation 1.6 gallon flush) was leaking from the upper tank gasket. Fortunately that's clean water. So the water was turned off, tank emptied (paper cup & sponge) and 3 bolts removed. Flipping the tank over I took a photo of the gasket, a triangular shaped flange with a center circle and looked for its availability at my local hardware store... $16.99 ! And available for immediate pick-up. Twenty minutes later it was back together in the correct order and no leaks! There was even a short video I reviewed on Kohler's web site. My tip: With so much easy info on the web, don't be afraid to take on these small repairs, or at least understand how this all works before asking for professional help.
