The incident occurred last Saturday at around 9:15 p.m., in a crowded Lione Park on Merrell Avenue, Conklin said.

"There were a lot of organized soccer matches going on with a lot of spectators, and for some reason [Wilson] got into a dispute and stepped onto the field and displayed a handgun in an intimidating fashion," Conklin said.

Dispatch received a call from a witness who relayed a description of Wilson, Conklin said.

Responding officers quickly set up a perimeter around the park and were able to locate Wilson.

"Kudos to the patrol division, but we really have to recognize the community who reached out to us and gave us this information," Conklin said.

According to the state of Connecticut Judicial Branch website, Wilson is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 29.
