Officers found a 32-year-old man dead inside the home, and evidence at the scene pointed to a drug overdose death, police said, which was later confirmed by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner as a fentanyl overdose.
The Stamford Police Department's Bureau of Criminal Investigation, led by investigator Lou Burdi, identified McDonald as a suspect, police said.
"Evidence was established that McDonald supplied the victim with fentanyl which subsequently led to his death," police said in a news release.
Burdi secured an arrest warrant, and on Jan. 23, with the help of SPD Sgt. Sean Boeger and the Clarkstown Police Department, McDonald was located in Clarkstown and taken into custody, police said.
The SPD in a news release thanked Burdi for his work on the investigation, and Clarkstown police for their involvement.
