Man Charged In Connection With Shooting At Stamford Restaurant: Police

Police said they responded to a local restaurant in the early morning hours of Jan. 4 on a report of a gunshot from inside the eatery.

STAMFORD, CT — A 25-year-old Stamford man was arrested over the weekend and charged in connection with a shooting that occurred at a local restaurant following a verbal altercation, according to police.

Andrejas Thaqi was arrested on Jan. 5 and charged with criminal attempt at first-degree assault, reckless endangerment, unlawful discharge of a firearm, and possession of a pistol without a permit, police said in a news release.

On Jan. 4 at approximately 1:30 a.m., police officers responded to Towne Parlor at 112 Bedford St. after receiving a report of a gunshot from inside the restaurant. No injuries were reported.

"Witness accounts indicated that a verbal altercation occurred between two males," police said in a news release. "A female accompanying one of the males attempted to intervene before a single gunshot was fired, striking the floor. Upon our arrival the suspect had already fled the scene."

Officers reviewed surveillance footage which corroborated witness statements, police said, noting a single spent Blazer .380 shell casing and a copper projectile were recovered from the scene.

Thaqi was identified as a suspect through witness identification, police said, and the Stamford Police Department's Major Crimes Division obtained an arrest warrant for him and search warrants for his vehicle and residence.

Thaqi was arrested without incident on the East Side of Stamford in the early morning hours of Jan. 5 after he left a home and got into a vehicle, police said.

"Following searches of the suspect’s residence and vehicle, detectives recovered several items of evidentiary value however the handgun was not recovered," police said in a news release. Thaqi was given a court-set bond of $250,000.

"This arrest underscores our department's commitment to ensuring public safety and holding individuals accountable for criminal activity," police said in a news release. "We commend the officers and detectives involved for their swift and thorough investigation."
