Man Injured by Boat Propeller in Stamford

A man suffered non-life threatening cuts when he was hit by a boat propeller while wake boarding on Long Island Sound.

A man suffered non-life threatening injuries Tuesday night after he was struck by a boat’s propeller while wake boarding off Stamford’s coastline, according to reports.

The man was brought to a dock at Brewer’s Yacht Haven Marina, according to reports. According to The Advocate, the man was being pulled on a wakeboard by a 23-foot boat when he was struck by the propeller causing arm and back lacerations.

Those aboard the boat pulled the man onto the vessel, stemmed the bleeding and brought him to shore where emergency crews treated him and brought him to Stamford Hospital, according to the report, which can be found here.

It is the second incident in the area this month in which someone being pulled on a floatation device by a motorboat was struck and injured by a boat propeller.

On Aug. 6, Emily Fedorko, 16, of Old Greenwich, was fatally injured when she was struck by the propeller of the vessel pulling her and a friend on a tube in the area of Captain’s Island off the Greenwich coast.
