Man Pleads Guilty to Gun Charge; Receives 2-Year Jail Sentence

The suspect was arrested by Stamford Police following a standoff with officers who received a tip he was traveling to Stamford with a gun.

A Bridgeport man who was arrested in January on weapons charges following a brief standoff with Stamford Police, has pleaded guilty criminal possession of a pistol.

Michael “Angel” Walsh, 37, of Evergreen Terrace made the plea in state Superor court in Stamford on May 21 and will serve two years in jail because he is a convicted felon, according to The Advocate.

Walsh was arrested Jan. 22 near Cove Pizza after police received a tip that Walsh would be driving into the area, armed with a gun. There was a standoff between police and Walsh, who police said refused to surrender the weapon and exit his car.

He received the mandatory minimum two-year sentence because of previous convictions for weapons violations, assaults, sexual assaults, child porn, threatening, narcotics violations and probation violations.
