Man Seriously Injured In Single-Car Crash: Stamford Police

"All aspects" of the crash are being investigated, police said, including the possibility the crash was preceded by a medical episode.

STAMFORD, CT — A 71-year-old man was seriously injured Friday morning after Stamford police say the SUV he was driving crashed into a utility pole.

The crash occurred at approximately 11:52 a.m. in the area of the 690 block of Atlantic Street, according to Sgt. Jeffrey Booth of the Stamford Police Department's Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad.

First responders found the man, a New York resident, unresponsive and he was removed from the vehicle by the Stamford Fire Department and treated at the scene, Booth said.

The man was then taken to Stamford Hospital where he is currently listed in critical condition, Booth noted.

Booth said "all aspects" of the crash are being investigated, including the possibility the crash was preceded by a medical episode.
