Man Severely Injured In Motor Vehicle Accident: Stamford Police

The accident occurred just after 11 p.m. last Friday on Courtland Avenue in Stamford, police said.

STAMFORD, CT—Police are investigating a serious motor vehicle accident which occurred on Courtland Avenue in Stamford last Friday night.

The accident occurred shortly after 11 p.m. when a 42-year-old Uber driver was attempting to make a left turn. A 2005 Infiniti G35, driven by a 21-year-old, was coming southbound behind the Honda at a high rate of speed and swerved, hitting it from behind on the driver side, according to police.

"The Honda was pushed a significant distance down the road. The driver of the Infiniti suffered pretty severe injuries," said Sgt. Jeff Booth, supervisor of the Stamford Police Department's collision analysis and reconstruction squad.

As of Sunday, Booth said, the 21-year-old was listed in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit at Stamford Hospital. The driver of the Honda Accord was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

"Speed was definitely a factor," Booth said. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
