Man Shot Gun Toward I-95 From Overpass In Stamford: Police

STAMFORD, CT — A city man has been charged in a shooting incident that occurred near Interstate 95 in Stamford on Tuesday, according to police. Lt. Tom Scanlon said officers responded to the I-95 overpass in the area of Fairfield Avenue around noon after witnesses reported a man had been shooting a gun toward the interstate.

Police were then informed a man fitting the description of the suspect was walking along the shoulder of I-95 toward Baxter Avenue and taking off some of his clothes, Scanlon said.

Officers later located and detained the man, who was identified as Steven St. Jacques, 26, of Stamford, according to Scanlon.

After further investigation, he was arrested on charges of criminal possession of a firearm, unlawful discharge of a firearm, reckless endangerment and criminal trespass.

A day prior, two men were arrested after police received reports of shots fired toward the end of Connecticut Avenue in Stamford, near the Greenwich border. Scanlon said the two incidents are "completely unrelated."
