STAMFORD, CT — A 49-year-old Connecticut man wanted by authorities in connection with an incident from December was found last week on the West Side of Stamford in possession of a stolen gun and drugs, according to police.

Michael Lee, of New Haven, was arrested on Jan. 23 on a warrant that charges him with possession of narcotics with intent to sell and operating a drug factory, Assistant Stamford Police Chief Richard Conklin said.

The warrant stemmed from a domestic incident on Dec. 12, 2024, in which officers responded to a La Quinta hotel on the West Side where they found a large amount of drugs in a hotel room Lee was staying at, Conklin said.

On Jan. 23 at approximately 1:30 p.m., the Stamford Police Department Narcotics and Organized Crime Squad was conducting routine patrol for on-site violations and wanted people when they located Lee coming from a parking lot in the 20 block of Main Street, according to Conklin.

Upon seeing the officers approach him, Lee tossed a .44 caliber revolver and a baggie containing several rounds of ammunition onto the ground, Conklin said, noting the gun was reported stolen out of Shelton in May 2023. Lee was quickly taken into custody.

Officers found Lee in possession of three knotted bags of crack cocaine totaling approximately 7.6 grams and nine folds of fentanyl, police said

In addition to the warrant from December, which came with a court-set bond of $50,000, Lee was charged with theft of a firearm, criminal possession of a firearm, criminal possession of ammunition and possession of narcotics, Conklin said. Those charges came with a $250,000 bond.

"This was a very nice on-site arrest by Narcotics and Organized Crime getting a stolen firearm out of the hands of a convicted felon," Conklin said.

Lee is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court for both cases on Feb. 6.
