Maple Sugar Fest Sundays Return To Stamford Museum & Nature Center

The annual late-winter event invites visitors of all ages to experience maple sugaring traditions and family-oriented activities.

STAMFORD, CT — Maple sugaring season is set to return to the Stamford Museum & Nature Center with the First County Bank Maple Sugar Fest Sundays, scheduled for March 1, 8 and 15.

The annual late-winter event invites visitors of all ages to experience maple sugaring traditions and family-oriented activities. Festival grounds will open at 10 a.m. each Sunday, with expanded attractions and programming running through 2 p.m.

Standard museum admission rates will apply after 2 p.m., according to the Stamford Museum & Nature Center. Advance registration is encouraged.

Presented by First County Bank, the Maple Sugar Fest Sundays will feature maple sugaring demonstrations, tree-tapping education, Lego building, face painting, live farm animal encounters and free popcorn.

Additional attractions include a sock skating rink, children’s games, food trucks and a pop-up farm market offering the museum’s maple syrup and specialty items. New this year, visitors can attend planetarium shows at the recently opened Planetarium & Astronomy Center.

Each Sunday will also include "Frozen on the Farm," with appearances by Olaf, Elsa and Anna, as well as the return of the Tea-Cup Piggies.

"Community is at the heart of everything we do. Supporting the Stamford Museum & Nature Center and cherished traditions like Maple Sugar Fest Sundays reflects First County Bank’s ongoing commitment to creating vibrant, educational experiences for our neighbors," said First County Bank Chairman and CEO Robert Granata, in a news release.

"Our three First County Bank Maple Sugar Fest Sundays celebrate both heritage and hands-on discovery," added SM&NC CEO Melissa H. Mulrooney. "Few places offer the ability to explore a working Sugar House, engage with the natural environment and enjoy a full day of family programming in one setting. As one of only two official maple syrup producers in Fairfield County, this remains a uniquely immersive experience."

Admission for each Sunday is capacity-controlled, and attendees are encouraged to register in advance to guarantee entry and receive discounted pricing. Advance tickets are $15 per person for members and $25 per person for non-members, with children 2 and under admitted free. Those who register in advance receive a $5 discount per ticket.

Tickets purchased on the day of the event will be available as capacity permits at $20 per person for members and $30 per person for non-members. Children 2 and under are admitted free. All events will be held rain or shine.

Parking for Maple Sugar Fest Sundays will be available at the museum’s upper Farmhouse & Astronomy Center entrance at 151 Scofieldtown Road, about a quarter mile north of the 39 Scofieldtown Road entrance.
