STAMFORD, CT — Stamford Mayor Caroline Simmons this week announced the creation of a director of housing services position that will work under the Stamford Department of Health and Human Services.

The new position will be responsible for the coordination and oversight of the city’s housing services and homelessness programs, Simmons' office said. The role will coordinate with city departments, liaise with community and government agencies focused on housing and homelessness, and act as a source of information and education for residents on issues related to housing.
The current director of social services position will be vacated to fill this new position, which is a cost-neutral benefit to the Stamford Department of Health and Human Services budget, Simmons' office said. Programs and services currently offered under Social Services will continue within the department.
