Mayor Simmons Urges Community To Donate Essential Baby Items
Stamford Mayor Caroline Simmons announced a call to action for the community on Friday.

STAMFORD, CT — Mayor Caroline Simmons on Friday announced a call to action for city residents, businesses and nonprofits to donate diapers, baby wipes, formula, and lightly used or new baby clothes to support families in need of these essential items.
"Too often, too many parents and babies do not have access to enough clean supply of diapers, wipes, and food," Simmons said in a news release. "These items are critical for the health and development of a newborn baby and when there is a lack of these resources it places additional stress on new parents and their families. With this call to action, my administration hopes we can raise awareness on the importance of postnatal care.
"I want to thank all of the organizations who volunteered to be a drop-off location for this effort and I look forward to continuing to work with our community partners to highlight maternal and postnatal health."

Janet Stolfi Alfano, Executive Director of The Diaper Bank of Connecticut, said diapers are especially essentially, yet they're often overlooked.
"Thank you to Mayor Simmons, the city of Stamford, and all of the local partners who are bringing attention to this critical issue that can have a lasting impact on Stamford families with young children," Alfano said.
