Mold Strikes Stamford School Classrooms

A Stamford school is having a couple classrooms remediated due to mold.

STAMFORD, CT — Two portable classrooms at Toquam Magnet Elementary School are being remediated due to issues with mold.

Discolored ceiling tiles were noticed in the classrooms earlier in October and air quality tests showed mold was present, according to the Stamford Advocate.

Students were moved out of the classrooms and the portable classrooms should be fixed by late November.

The school had another issue with mold with two normal classrooms in 2012. The Board of Education requested $1.3 million for repairs prior to 2012, but only received $300,00 and had to patch the roof instead of appropriately fixing it.
