Monday Evening Meditation in Downtown Stamford

The weekly meditation sessions will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation.

An announcement from The Unitarian Universalist Congregation.

The Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Stamford will offer a weekly Meditation program open to the public on Monday evenings throughout February and early March. The Mindful Meditation sessions are led by Rev. Frances Sink, the congregation’s minister who has a clinical practice in training for mindful meditation. The sessions run each Monday evening from 6:15 pm to 7:30 pm in the congregation’s sanctuary, 20 Forest Street, in downtown Stamford.

Meditation practitioners learn to become physically stillness and focus on the breath in the present moment. These skills stabilize the mind, focus the attention, and allow a person to observe and let go of stress and reactivity. Becoming more mindful of our thoughts, feelings, and sensations give us new insight into ourselves and can lead to increased life satisfaction. According to teacher Pema Chodron, meditation helps us to “make friends” with our minds.
