More Than 100 Girls Explore STEM Careers At SoundWaters In Stamford

Students participated in a weeklong spring break program that's designed to inspire the next generation of women in STEM.

STAMFORD, CT — More than 100 girls in grades two through eight last week took part in SoundWaters Science Stars, a weeklong spring break program that's designed to inspire the next generation of women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).

Each day, students conducted experiments, explored the Long Island Sound environment, and worked directly with STEM professionals leading interactive workshops.

Elementary and middle school participants explored topics including gravity and orbital motion through interactive models, cell division and medical science, and astronomy concepts such as star formations and constellations.

Students also gained exposure to real-world applications of science through demonstrations in veterinary care and discussions with healthcare professionals and environmental educators.
