Murder Charge For Stamford Man In Wife's Grisly Slaying

Eden Claxton, 74, was killed in her Hycliff Terrace home on the morning of June 11.

STAMFORD, CT — Allen Claxton, 75, was charged with murder June 28 in connection with the killing of his wife, Eden Claxton, 74, on June 11, according to Stamford police. Allen Claxton was scheduled to surrender to Stamford police Thursday morning.

Eden Claxton's throat was slit, and she was covered in blood when authorities arrived at the Hycliff Terrace home where they lived.

"Officers believe that Allen committed the murder and then botched his own suicide. The investigation revealed a contemplation of this act for some time, due to a perceived financial and health concerns," wrote Stamford police in a statement posted on its Facebook page. "This was not a suicide pact, but an event perpetrated by Allen where Eden was the innocent victim."

Claxton posted bond on bail of $1.5 million and was scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on June 29.
