STAMFORD, CT — Stamford Public Schools has announced a new assistant principal has been selected for Cloonan Middle School. Alexander Hanna will replace long-time Assistant Principal Laureen Mody, who is retiring at the end of the school year.

He is set to start the position on July 1.

"I am impressed by Alex's commitment to the Stamford Public Schools, both as an employee, and as a parent of school-aged children," Cloonan Principal David Tate said in a release. "Cloonan was blessed to have a large pool of very qualified candidates from whom to choose. Alex Hanna certainly shared those qualities, but what truly made him stand out are his vision for rethinking education to meet the needs of students where they are and the ways in which 21st century young people learn."

Hanna has worked in the district for 12 years, where he has held the positions of math teacher and math support specialist, as well as an athletic coach for both middle school and high school.
