New Details Released In Stamford Hotel Homicide Investigation

Police said they responded to the Super 8 hotel in Stamford on Oct. 14 on a report of a shooting.

STAMFORD, CT — Police on Thursday morning released new details in the investigation of the shooting that occurred at a Stamford hotel on Oct. 14 which left a 59-year-old Stamford man dead.

"As part of the ongoing investigation, two individuals, identified as 22-year-old Moises Alejadro Candollo-Urbaneja, and 24-year-old Gregory Marlyn Galindez-Trias, were taken into custody by local law enforcement in Rensselaer, New York," Capt. Thomas Scanlon and Lt. Douglas Deiso said in an update.

Police also said the men were found with the victim's personal belongings.

The men are being held on a $2 million bond and charged with possession of stolen property in New York, and they're charged on a warrant out of Stamford with first-degree larceny related to the theft of the victim's car, police added.

Police were called to the Super 8 hotel on Grenhart Road in Stamford on a report of a shooting at approximately 10:40 a.m. on Oct. 14. Officers found Angel Samaniego with a gunshot wound, police said, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police on Thursday said Samaniego's death has officially been ruled as a homicide, and the cause of death was determined to be a gunshot wound.
