New Details In Stamford Wrong-Way Crash Released: State Police
The Friday crash snarled traffic for hours and prompted Connecticut transportation officials to close portions of the interstate.
STAMFORD, CT — A 27-year-old New York man was seriously injured Friday when the car he was driving crashed head-on with a tractor-trailer on Interstate 95 near Stamford, according to Connecticut State Police.
The crash, which happened just after 2:30 a.m. on southbound I-95, snarled traffic for hours and prompted Connecticut transportation officials to close portions of the interstate.
According to police, Edgar P. Alvarracinvizhco of Port Chester, New York, was driving the wrong way on southbound I-95 when he hit the tractor-trailer. Alvarracinvizhco was taken to Stamford Hospital for treatment of serious injuries, police said.

The tractor-trailer's driver and passenger were not injured.
