Police explain how scammers pose as government or law enforcement officials, pressure victims to hand over cash or valuables to a courier, and urge anyone suspicious to independently verify callers and contact Stamford police directly.
   

2. WineFest Returns To Stamford Downtown With More Than 20 Wineries (patch.com) — Stamford's WineFest on Bedford is set to bring more than 20 wineries, food trucks, and local vendors to Latham Park this October, offering tastings, games, and live music. With early-bird and VIP ticket options, the downtown event invites adults 21 and over to enjoy an afternoon focused on wine, local businesses, and responsible fun in the heart of Stamford.
   

3. New Seafood Restaurant Ocean 46 To Open In Stamford's Harbor Point (patch.com) — Stamford's Harbor Point waterfront is getting a new dining option as Antonio's Restaurant Group plans to open Ocean 46, a seafood-focused restaurant with indoor and outdoor bars overlooking the harbor. The long-term lease underscores Harbor Point's growth as a mixed-use neighborhood, adding to its expanding lineup of restaurants and amenities near the Stamford Transportation Center.
   

4. Man, dog rescued from boat off Stamford cove (wtnh.com) — Stamford firefighters pulled a man and his dog to safety after their 24-foot boat began taking on water near Westcott Cove, then towed the vessel to shore before it could sink. No one was hurt, thanks to quick work by the Marine Division, dive team, and a drone that helped locate the distressed boat in the dark.
   

5. 3,100 Youths Have Visited Connecticut's Urgent Crisis Centers since 2022 (stamfordadvocate.com) — Families in Stamford should know that Stamford Hospital's emergency department includes a youth behavioral health crisis unit, complementing three state-run walk-in centers in Hartford, New London, and Waterbury. Since 2022, more than 3,100 young people statewide have used these urgent crisis centers, and hotlines 211 and 988 are fielding tens of thousands of calls, helping reduce youth suicide rates in Connecticut.
