📰 News we're reading

1. Updated Colonial Home Hits The Stamford Market (patch.com) — Stamford home shoppers can now tour a meticulously updated 1969 colonial on Cascade Road, listed at just under $1.6 million. The three-bedroom, five-bathroom house spans nearly 4,000 square feet and features a newly added screened-in porch that extends the living space for dining, entertaining, and enjoying New England seasons along the Stamford–New Canaan border.

2. Newmark In Stamford Announces New Partnership With UConn (patch.com) — Stamford residents may be interested in a new partnership where Newmark's Stamford office will channel part of its commercial real estate fees to support UConn athletics, academics, and research. UConn-affiliated clients can direct these funds to specific university priorities, tying Stamford's business community more closely to Connecticut's flagship public university and its student-athletes.

3. Stamford Man Sentenced For Drug Trafficking: U.S. Attorney (patch.com) — Stamford residents are learning more about a major drug trafficking case that centered on a Hoyt Street home, where investigators seized cocaine, fentanyl, a gun, and cash. A 46-year-old Stamford man has now received an effective 18.5-year federal sentence for his role in a wider fentanyl and cocaine ring operating in Stamford and nearby communities, following a multi-agency investigation and earlier state robbery convictions.

4. Connecticut neighbors question traffic impact of Stamford Hospital expansion (nhregister.com) — Stamford neighbors are weighing in on a major Stamford Hospital expansion that would relocate the Bennett Cancer Center, add a new 73,000-square-foot building, and increase parking to nearly 1,700 spaces. Residents near West Broad Street worry about heavier traffic, school bus safety, and overflow parking on residential streets, while city zoning officials and hospital representatives work through traffic studies and safety plans before any final approval.

5. Trial of former cop in death of Stamford pastor expected to begin Thursday (stamfordadvocate.com) — A former Stamford police officer is set to stand trial in Milford for a 2023 on-duty crash in Stamford that killed local pastor Rev. Tommie Jackson. The case, moved from Stamford courts to avoid conflicts, centers on whether the officer's high-speed response ignored dispatcher instructions and criminally contributed to the pastor's death, a decision many Stamford residents will be watching closely.
