Woman Severely Injured After Getting Hit By Car: Stamford Police

Police said a 68-year-old woman was hit by a car while crossing the I-95 exit 9 off-ramp on Wednesday morning.

STAMFORD, CT — Police said a 68-year-old woman is hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after she was hit by a car in Stamford early Wednesday morning.

At around 6:19 a.m., police said the woman was hit by a 2015 Chevy driven by a 26-year-old Shelton resident, who was exiting I-95 southbound at exit 9.

According to Sgt. Jeffrey Booth of the Stamford Police Department's Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad (CARS), the Chevy was at the top of the ramp and made a right turn onto East Main Street. As the Chevy was making the turn, it struck the woman who was crossing the exit ramp walking westbound on East Main Street.

Booth said the initial investigation shows the woman was in the crosswalk when she was struck. She was taken to Stamford Hospital where she is currently undergoing treatment, police said.

The I-95 off ramp was closed for over three hours while investigators worked on the scene, but it is now open, Booth said.

The SPD is requesting anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has more information to contact the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad at 203-977-4712.

STAMFORD, CT — Police said a woman was seriously injured after she was hit by a car while crossing the I-95 southbound exit 9 off-ramp Wednesday morning.

The incident was reported at 7:25 a.m. by the Connecticut Department of Transportation. The off-ramp was closed for over two hours while investigators worked on the scene, according to Sgt. Jeffrey Booth, supervisor of the Stamford Police Department's Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad (CARS). The ramp is now open.

Booth said the woman is currently being treated at Stamford Hospital.

More information is expected to be released by the SPD soon, Booth said.

A pedestrian was hit by a car in Stamford on Wednesday morning, according to the Connecticut Department of Transportation.

The crash, which was reported at 7:25 a.m., closed the I-95 southbound exit 9 off-ramp.
