Pinwheel Art Installation by Stamford Public School Students

Youth Energy Revolution: Pinwheels Unleash Collective Power!
Over 9,000 Pinwheels to Transform Mill River Park in a Celebration of Creativity and Sustainability

September 5, 2023. Stamford, CT — My Architecture Workshops Inc., is excited to announce a unique and inspiring event in partnership with Stamford Public Schools. Over 9,000 pinwheels, each bearing the name and creative touch of students in grades K-8, will adorn Mill River Park in a colorful and symbolic art installation.
Event Details:

• Dates: Saturday, Sept 16th, and Sunday, Sept 17th, 2023
• Location: Mill River Park, Stamford, CT
• Time: The Pinwheel Installation can be viewed from Saturday at 9 am through Sunday evening outside The Carousel Pavilion.
• Free Workshops 12 pm to 4 pm on Saturday, September 16th, inside The Carousel Pavilion.

Students in grades K-8 from Stamford Public Schools will receive pinwheel kits in their school colors during the week of September 5th at their respective schools. These kits not only encourage creativity but also impart valuable lessons about harnessing wind power as a sustainable energy source. Students will have the opportunity to assemble their pinwheels in their classrooms, adding a personalized touch by writing their names on them.
The culmination of this project will take place at Mill River Park as scores of high school volunteers gather to collect the students' pinwheels and plant them outside the enchanting Mill River Carousel. This vibrant and imaginative installation represents not only a celebration of wind energy but also a powerful symbol of unity and the potential for a brighter future.

In addition to the main installation, My Architecture Workshops will provide free workshops in the carousel pavilion. Students of all ages are invited to participate in hands-on activities, including building cardboard houses, experimenting with watercolor painting, sketching, and 3D printing. This two-day event promises to be a memorable and educational experience for all involved.
We invite the Stamford community and beyond to join us to witness the transformation of the park into a sea of creativity and inspiration.

MY ARCHITECTURE WORKSHOPS INC.
Our programs introduce high school students to the fields of architecture, design, construction, and engineering, with an emphasis on design build and site tours. Workshops and collaborations with industry professionals focus on engaging young people interested in exploring careers in the AEC Industry.
Our six-week summer camp program is for students in grades K-8. Our curriculum is designed around S.T.E.A.M., and students develop skills of observation, reasoning, and critical thinking, tools that will develop within them, as well as an appreciation and respect for the built environment. We offer a hands-on experience for students to explore architecture through the lens of Natural Sciences, Geography, Mathematics, and art while working toward a collaborative architecture project.
