Police Presence At Stamford School Prompted By Social Media Post

School officials said police have added extra patrols at the school out of an abundance of caution due to a troubling social media post.

STAMFORD, CT — A troubling social media message has prompted an increase of police presence at Turn of the River Middle School this week, school officials said. In a message sent to staff Tuesday night, Principal Brendan Fox said there will be an increased police presence at the school over the next few days out an abundance of caution.

"We became aware of a message on social media that could be viewed as threatening in nature and notified the Stamford Police Department, as well as Central Office," Fox said in the message. "The police and the district are investigating the situation."

According to the Stamford Advocate, police said there is no concrete threat and the situation is being handled internally by the school district.
