Police Seize Illegal Gun, High-Capacity Magazines After Multi-Week Investigation: Stamford PD
A 20-year-old Stamford man was arrested on June 18, according to police.

STAMFORD, CT — A 20-year-old Stamford man was arrested on June 18 after police say they seized an illegal firearm and high-capacity magazines from his apartment after a multi-week investigation.
Albert Castillo was charged with illegal transfer of a firearm, altering ID marks of a firearm, and two counts of illegal possession of a high-capacity magazine.
The Stamford Police Narcotics and Organized Crime Squad (NOC) received information that Castillo had an illegal gun in his apartment, Assistant Stamford Police Chief Richard Conklin told Patch.

Search warrants for Castillo's residence and vehicle were executed on June 18 in the early evening hours.
After several hours of surveillance, Castillo left his Stillwater Avenue apartment in a vehicle and was stopped shortly after by police, the department said.

Nothing was found on Castillo's person or his vehicle, but a search of his residence revealed a Glock 9mm semi-automatic handgun with the serial number obliterated, and a high-capacity magazine loaded with 17 rounds, police said.
A second high-capacity magazine and a regular handgun magazine were seized, along with four additional 9mm rounds, police said.
Castillo was issued a bond of $50,000. He's scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on July 2.
