Rotary Club Of Stamford Awards $75K In Scholarships To Students

The Rotary Club of Stamford provides community grants and academic scholarships each year.

STAMFORD, CT — The Rotary Club of Stamford this week awarded scholarships totaling $75,000 to 15 Stamford students.

Each year, the Rotary Club of Stamford provides community grants and academic scholarships. These grants and scholarships are awarded through the Stamford Rotary Trust Fund, which was founded in 1961.

"One of our goals as Rotarians is to make a difference in our community. Our hope is that by providing these scholarships, we are allowing high school students a greater chance of success and helping to shape the future of leaders in our community," said Rotary Club of Stamford Scholarship Trust Fund Committee Chair Christopher Farrugio, in a news release.

"Most of our scholarships were created in honor of Stamford Rotarians who date as far back as 1928. We are proud of the nearly 100 year history of the Rotary Club of Stamford, and look forward to many more years of serving and supporting our local communities," he added.

To be eligible for the Stamford Rotary Scholarship, the student must be a graduating high school senior residing in Stamford and demonstrate a strong commitment to improving the quality of life for people in their school, community and/or world at large.

Eligible students must be entering post-secondary school in summer or fall 2022.

2022 Scholarship recipients of $5,000 each are:

  • Mollie Herz, Stamford High School (The Ernest A. DiMattia, Jr. Award)
  • Dante Ayars, AITE (The Kingsley Gillespie Award)
  • Alessandra Pinto, Westhill High School (The Charles Judd Award)
  • Fatima Santos, Westhill High School (The Glenn W. Moon Award)
  • Mike Edwards, Westhill High School (The John B. Reynolds Award)
  • Claire Cody, Stamford High School (The Susan Rich Award)
  • Finn Morris, Stamford High School (The Richard E. Taber Award)
  • Thomas DeMarkey, Stamford High School (The Malcolm Taylor Award) Arjun Anand, Westhill High School (The Dominick W. Telesco Award)
  • Krishma Gewali, Stamford High School (The Karl Theiss Award)
  • Zoe Tongtong, Stamford High School (The Harry Wilkov Award)
  • Olivia Conte, Westhill High School (Trustees Award)
  • Jeremy Young, Stamford High School (Trustees Award)

These students will be attending the University of Virginia, Berkeley, Quinnipiac University, University of Connecticut, University of Massachusetts Amherst, Suffolk University, University of North Carolina, Dartmouth College, Columbia University, Villanova University and Brown University.
