STAMFORD, CT — Sally's Apizza, the iconic pizza eatery from New Haven, will officially open up its doors in Stamford at 66 Summer St. on Oct. 7 at 3 p.m.

This is the first new Sally's location outside of New Haven and Wooster Street since the restaurant was founded in 1938 by Salvatore "Sally" Consiglio and Flora "Flo" Consiglio.

"Stamford is the gateway to New England and one of the most vibrant places in Connecticut," said Krystina Nataloni, Director of Marketing for Sally's, in a news release. "Our entire team is looking forward to bringing the unique Sally's brand of passion, excitement and fun to this energetic community."

Ted Zizlsperger, Chief Operating Officer for Sally's, said in a news release the Stamford restaurant "is a game changer in the pizza category, with significant innovations and industry firsts, all of which are designed to enhance the guest experience for pizza lovers."

The new restaurant measures 4,000 square feet, and will offer increased seating options for customers with a mezzanine, as well as a "double height bar dining area", and floor to ceiling windows that can provide al fresco dining even when inside, according to a news release.

There will also be an area dedicated to seamless pickup, take-out and delivery.

The service model at Sally's was designed "to give guests choice, flexibility and freedom," added Zizlsperger.

"We adopted a more convenient service model at Wooster Street and people absolutely love it. Our new locations are going to build on that with even more options for our fans. Our guests really love placing their order and paying at the same time, giving them more freedom over their own time and experience, without having to wait for a check after they've enjoyed their meal," Zizlsperger said in a news release.

The signature honey oak paneled interior will pay homage to Sally, along with art and memorabilia celebrating Sally's storied history as a favorite spot for legends like Frank Sinatra and The Rolling Stones.

Music will be an important part of the experience at the new restaurant, according to Lucas Walters, Manager of Music Development at Sally's Apizza. "The music program at Sally's is about honoring the best of what's old and the best of what's new," he said in a news release.

The coal-fired pizza will remain the focal point, and Sally's promises to remain true to its roots.

"My father developed his own sauce recipe and a dough formula that worked in harmony with this specific coal-fired oven design. He worked on different methods to shred the mozzarella and special techniques to apply the toppings. He kept working on everything until people's faces lit up when they took their first bite," said Rick Consiglio in a news release. "These exact same recipes, techniques and ingredients are still how we make the pizza today, in our original location, and now in Stamford. Everything's the same, even the oven."

The oven is featured prominently in the new Stamford location, with the Sally's signature red and white brick pattern in full view.

To celebrate the grand opening on Oct. 7, Sally's will offer commemorative T-shirts while supplies last. The shirts will be made on-site, according to a news release.

"To get one of these T-shirts, present your Grand Opening Event Day guest receipt to the T-shirt bakers on site," Nataloni said in a news release. "These limited run commemorative T-shirts will be available only while supplies last, so fans who want one should plan on arriving early. The doors open at 3 p.m. and we anticipate that our fans may start forming a line considerably earlier."
