School Board Votes to Pay Final Legal Bill for Stamford High Investigation

A Hartford law firm charged the board of education nearly $200K to investigate the case.

With the investigation done, the Fiscal Committee of the Stamford school board has approved payment of the final payment to a Hartford law firm that investigated the Stamford High School teacher sex scandal.

The committee voted Tuesday night to make a final payment of $92,417 to the firm of Pullman & Comley that conducted the nearly five-month investigation into how the district handled allegations that former English teacher Danielle Watkins had sex with one of her students and provided another with marijuana in the 2013-14 school year, according to The Advocate.

Watkins is serving a five-year jail sentence for sex assault and there have been several administrative changes including pending termination hearings for two school administrators and school Superintendent Winifred Hamilton has announced she will retire at the end of this year.
