Danielle Watkins received a jail sentence for her relationship with a former student.

The former Stamford High School English teacher who was arrested on sex assault charges for her months-long sexual relationship with a student has been sentenced to jail.

In state Superior Court in Stamford on Wednesday, Danielle Watkins was ordered to serve five years in jail with five years suspended, 15 years probation, register with the sex offender registry for 10 years and was banned from contacting her victims until 2030, according to The Advocate.

Watkins, 33, of Norwalk, was charged with two counts each of second-degree sexual assault and sale of marijuana. Watkins was arrested July 17 on accusations that in June she threatened to fail a former student, who’s now 18, if he didn’t continue their sexual liaisons. She was accused of meeting the student for trysts in her car during the school day, but not on school property.
