STAMFORD, CT — A 48-year-old man was hit and killed by an SUV while trying to cross High Ridge Road Tuesday morning, according to the Stamford Police Department.

Cabrera-Guzman was pronounced dead at the hospital a short time later, police said.
The driver of the Suburban, a 58-year-old Wilton resident, remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, police noted.
The collision closed a section of High Ridge Road for several hours Tuesday morning. It has since reopened to all traffic.
The investigation remains "open and active," police added, and anyone with information is being asked to contact the SPD's Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad at 203-977-4712. The crash is being investigated by Sgt. Jeffrey Booth and officers Cory Fisher and Tom Landry.
This is the second pedestrian fatality in Stamford in less than a month.
On Nov. 21, a 74-year-old woman was killed in a hit-and-run on West Main Street. Police found and seized a suspect vehicle, but no arrests have been made.
Police said in an update earlier this month they're waiting for state lab test results on the car before they move forward with the investigation.
The update was given during the city's monthly Vision Zero Task Force meeting. Mayor Caroline Simmons launched a Vision Zero initiative in 2022 to increase roadway safety and eliminate all traffic fatalities and injuries in Stamford by 2032.
