Stale Air & Sick Building Syndrome

Energy Recovery Ventilators are coming !

(Steve Gladstone)

My "Around the House" Tip of the Day for Tuesday January 23, 2024:How stale is the air in your home? Are you re-breathing the same air over and over again. With homes getting tighter with better windows, more insulation and weather-stripping it is unlikely that there is any air exchanging in your home. If this bothers you, you might open a window or door but it's cold out now, and in summer we don't want to waste air conditioning, so we rarely open any windows. The answer might be buying an Energy Recovery Ventilator. This unit is designed to draw fresh air from outside and exhaust stale air out. The neat thing is as they pass each other in a heat exchanger the warm air exhausting warms the cold fresh air that's being drawn in. And the opposite in summer. Filters in the unit keep out exterior contaminants and the units use very little electricity, so they are not expensive to operate. If you find your home is making you sick, or you just want better air quality you might want to look into this piece of equipment.Have a great Tuesday from "Around the House w/ Steve Gladstone" & Stonehollow Home Inspections.
