Stamford 911 Dispatcher Made Violent Threats At Work, Complaint Says
The dispatcher threatened to "shoot and kill everyone" if denied a promotion, according to a complaint filed with Conn-OSHA.
STAMFORD, CT — A City of Stamford 911 dispatcher recently threatened to "shoot and kill everyone" if denied a promotion at work, according to a complaint filed with the Connecticut Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
Over the course of multiple days starting on or around Nov. 30 to Dec. 5, 2024, the dispatcher, whose name is redacted in the anonymous complaint obtained by Patch, began to make verbal threats before an upcoming supervisor interview. The complaint was filed on Dec. 8, 2024.
According to Mayor Caroline Simmons' office, the dispatcher was placed on administrative leave on Dec. 9. The dispatcher will remain on leave until an investigation is resolved.

The complainant explained that the dispatcher got into detail as to how they would carry out the threats, saying the dispatcher would block doors and that "nobody would leave alive."
"While we have a good working relationship on our shift, this has become very concerning as to the amount of times it was said and the fact [the dispatcher] has told us a plan," the complainant wrote, adding they consulted with friends in law enforcement who encouraged them to escalate a complaint.

CT-OSHA told Patch the complaint was then sent to the Stamford Department of Public Safety Health & Welfare.
A request for comment from department Director Lou DeRubeis was not returned by the mayor's office this week.
According to the Stamford Advocate, the dispatcher downplayed the allegations, saying the comments were "simply a misunderstanding of workplace banter."
Patch has reached out to the Stamford Police Department for more information.
