Stamford, Connecticut,resident and author, Barbara Espinosa Occhino, has been selected for the Writers Read “Nuestras Voces (Our Voices)” live show on Sunday, May 4th, 2025, at City Winery New York (Pier 57, West 15th Street on 11th Avenue). As a Carnegie Hall Partner Event, Writers Read hosts this exciting live event featuring 14 accomplished authors sharing true stories of Latin culture in America. “I will be reading my five-minute true story, “The Beats of Our Hearts,” that takes the audience on a dynamic journey from Cuba to Venezuela and the U.S. It’s a triumphant tale of determination, courage, and how music and dancing connected my family’s past to the unknown,” says Barbara.

General admission tickets (https://tinyurl.com/nzah2hn3) are now on sale at CityWinery.com (limited seating). As a 100% volunteer, non-profit organization, ticket sales help support the host: WritersRead.org. Doors open at 12:00 pm for lunch, followed by ensemble show at 1:00 pm, and a Meet & Greet reception 4:00 pm.

After four decades as an award-winning marketing copywriter, Barbara Espinosa Occhino ventured into nonfiction writing and published three stories in a New York Times best-selling book series. Born in Cuba, her writing is inspired by the people and places that colored her life in the US and abroad. She conducted book signings at Barnes & Noble and published her works and poetry in magazines and other print media. Barbara teaches entrepreneurship at a Connecticut state college and conducts writing workshops for charities and senior residences. She is a volunteer student mentor, multilingual jazz singer, and theater and dance devotee. Barbara resides in Connecticut and co-owns Vertex Marketing Communications with her husband.
