Stamford Considers Approving Contract For First CIO: Report
The city put out a call for candidates earlier this year for this new position, which is responsible for overseeing the city's IT needs.
STAMFORD, CT —Stamford's Board of Representatives is in the process of approving a contract for the city's first chief information officer.
The Stamford Advocate reported Isidore "Izzy" Sobkowski, a Stamford native, is already acting CIO. The full Board of Representatives will consider approving a four-year contract for Sobkowski at a November 3 meeting, city records show.
The city put out a call for candidates earlier this year for this position, which is responsible for overseeing the city's information technologies. The CIO is a member of the Mayor's Cabinet and "leads the planning, design, implementation, and maintenance of technology and related processes, with a keen focus on leveraging technology to transform and improve how City government serves citizens and guest of Stamford through department operations."

The creation of this new position comes as the city works to update its business processes, the Advocate reported.
Earlier this month, the city's personnel committee recommended that the full board approve Sobkowski's contract. Mayor David Martin's office told the Stamford Advocate the CIO salary is $156,686 annually.
