Stamford Cops Rescue Elderly Man From Icy Waters
The incident occurred Saturday afternoon off Southfield Avenue.
STAMFORD, CT — Three Stamford police officers rescued an elderly man Saturday when they pulled him from the icy waters at the TGM Anchor Marina off Southfield Avenue, according to Lt. Michael Noto.
Officers were dispatched to the scene at about 1 p.m. after the man, a Waterbury resident who was helping a friend with a boat at the marina, had slipped and fallen into the water.
"Within 3 minutes of receiving the call Officers Matthew Romano, Jonathan Gale and Erik Soderholm were on scene and pulling the victim, an 80 year old Waterbury resident from the water," Noto wrote on the department's Facebook page. "The elderly man said he couldn’t feel his legs so the Officers quickly removed some of his wet clothing and warmed him until Stamford EMS arrived on the scene."

The victim is recovering at Stamford Hospital; his current condition was not available.
After falling into the water, the man was not pull himself out and his friend also was unable to get him out of the water.

"The victim was thankful the police arrived so quickly stating he wasn’t sure he could hold on to the dock much longer and he couldn’t feel his legs," Noto stated. "The Stamford Police Department is extremely proud of the quick actions taken by the Officers. They quite likely saved the man’s life."
