Recounts were held in two Stamford Democratic primary races for seats on the Board of Representatives.

STAMFORD, CT — The recounts in two Stamford Democratic primary races for seats on the Board of Representatives have been completed, and they confirm unofficial winners from election night, according to the Stamford Advocate.

In District 18, Karen Camporeale defeated Jennienne Burke by just two votes, matching results from election night 217 to 215, the Advocate said.

Camporeale will go up against Republican Stephen Garst in the Nov. 7 municipal election.

Strain will face Republican Michael Battinelli in November.

Last week's primary also featured two other races.

DCC-endorsed candidate Kindrea Walston defeated petitioned candidate Walter Mardis in District 9.

Endorsed candidate Carl Weinberg beat challenger Clemon Williams in District 20.

Since the municipal election in 2021, Shinn, Walston, Weinberg, and Dakary Watkins (District 5, did not face primary challenger) — and one Republican, Garst, were appointed to the Board of Reps. to replace members of the same party who had resigned.

There are 20 districts in Stamford, and each district elects two representatives every four years, concurrent with the mayor's term.

Appointees need to win in the municipal election to complete their predecessor's four-year term.
