Stamford Dentist Agrees to $755k False Claims Settlement

The Attorney General's office alleged that the dentist filed claims for work that was never done, mainly for patients at nursing homes.

STAMFORD, CT — A Stamford-based dentist agreed to a settlement with the state Attorney General's office over allegations of false claims.

Georgy Betser and his wife, Irina Betser, and their companies – Advanced Dental Office and Laboratory, G. Betser, DDS, LLC; Dental Laboratory Advanced Management and Billing, LLC; and Mobile Management & Billing of USA, LLC. agreed to forfeit more than $755,000 in payments suspended by the state.

Georgy Betser also agreed to not seek renewal of his now-expired dental license and not to participate in the state's Medicaid program for 10 years.

"This provider preyed upon the most vulnerable of our Medicaid population – our seniors who reside in nursing homes," said Attorney General George Jepsen in a statement. "We will continue to work hard to hold accountable those who seek to defraud our taxpayer-funded healthcare programs."

The AG's office started investigating in 2013. They alleged in a complaint that from October 2009 to June 2014 the Betsers filed claims with the Connecticut Medical Assistance Program for procedures such as fillings that were never completed. Many of the allegations stem from purported care that was provided at nursing homes.
