Stamford Director Of Administration To Retire

The Office of Administration is responsible for ensuring prudent financial management for the city of Stamford.

STAMFORD, CT — Mayor Caroline Simmons this week announced that Stamford Director of Administration Sandy Dennies is planning to retire from her position with the city on June 1, 2023.

"The Office of Administration is responsible for ensuring prudent financial management for the City of Stamford and under Director Dennies’ leadership, we achieved and maintained our AAA bond rating, successfully managed bond sales, and delivered multiple City budgets that invest in Stamford residents," Simmons said in an news release. "Sandy’s remarkable leadership and expertise has been invaluable to my team over the past 16 months and although she will be greatly missed, I wish her the best of luck on this next chapter."

Dennies thanked Simmons and former Mayors David Martin and Dannel Malloy for the opportunity to serve the residents of Stamford.

"It has been the honor of a lifetime to work with such dedicated and committed professionals and I will miss them dearly," Dennies said in a news release.

Dennies served as director of administration for Stamford from 2007 to 2009, having previously served as the city’s grant officer. She also served as CFO for the towns of Wilton and New Canaan, before returning as the director of administration post in 2020.
