STAMFORD, CT — Stamford Downtown will celebrate the redesign of lower Summer Street with a block party on Thursday, June 27.

The free event will run from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and feature extended outdoor dining patios, live music, strolling entertainment, and more.

"Summer Street from Broad Street to Summer Place will be closed to vehicular traffic so people have more room to walk, dine, and see and be seen," Stamford Downtown said in an announcement.

The Lower Summer Street Promenade project aims to transform the roadway into a more pedestrian friendly space that allows for expanded outdoor dining and an enhanced pedestrian realm, the project's web page says.

Construction began in spring 2023. Mayor Caroline Simmons said the project is expected to be completed this month as final touches are being made to the road.
