Stamford Family YMCA Names Interim CEO

She has "28 years of experience in strategic planning, operations, staff development and membership growth for Y's of all kinds."

STAMFORD, CT - From The Stamford Family YMCA: The Stamford Family YMCA (The Y) today announced that its board of directors has moved expeditiously to identify and engage senior Y executive Terri Wellman to serve as its interim CEO following the recent announcement that Clinton Hamilton would depart the role. Wellman brings 28 years of experience in strategic planning, operations, staff development and membership growth for Y’s of all kinds – small branches, large associations, urban, suburban, rural, with diverse memberships. She has commenced her engagement with The Y.

Wellman comes to the Stamford Y from the Philadelphia Freedom Valley YMCA, a 20-branch, $100 million regional Y, where she served in various leadership positions. Previously she had a long, successful tenure with the Milwaukee, Wisconsin Regional YMCA. The Stamford Y engagement is in her capacity as a member of Y USA’s Interim CEO Program.

In tandem with her YMCA work, Wellman attained the rank of Major over a distinguished 21-year career in the U.S. Army Reserves, retiring in 2002.
