"They cherished each other and went on to build a fairytale life together. They raised three sons and achieved all their dreams together. Anthony loved a night out with friends, a round of golf, and working in his yard," the SFD said.

In retirement, Milone lived in Arizona for more than two decades in a home he designed under the Superstition Mountains in Apache Junction.

In 2021, Milone returned to Connecticut to enjoy the East Coast breeze and be with his family, the SFD said.

A Celebration of Life funeral mass will be held on Thursday, Aug. 29 at 11 a.m. at St. Jude Church in Monroe.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Milone's name to Stamford Firefighters Local 786 Burn Foundation.
