Stamford Health’s Annual Paint the Town Pink Girlfriends Luncheon – Event Recap

In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Stamford Health hosted its 21st annual Paint the Town Pink Girlfriends Luncheon last Friday

The event brought together over 550 attendees to honor the importance of breast cancer screening, early detection, and the comprehensive breast care services available in our community. Remarks were made by:

  • Liz Longmore, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer
  • Caroline Simmons, Mayor of Stamford
  • Joan Lunden, Journalist, Author & Wellness Advocate
  • Marlene Gatz, Breast Cancer Survivor
  • Colin Cosell, EMCEE

Also in attendance were Bennett Cancer Center (BCC), physicians, Stamford Health Breast Center surgeons, radiologists, staff, and many other Stamford Health leaders and hospital employees.

Thanks to generous support from raffles vendors and a paddle raise, the luncheon raised $180,000 to benefit Stamford Health’s Bennett Cancer Center and Breast Center. Throughout the month there will be over 60 mini events also raising significant funding for the initiative.

A key highlight was the paddle raise, which supported Stamford Health’s High-Risk Breast Screening Program. A nurse practitioner who specializes in high-risk patients will determine your risk after a detailed family and medical history intake and a thorough breast exam. If you need additional care, our breast specialist, who has extensive experience helping women at high risk for breast cancer, will create a personalized care plan.
