The teen was hospitalized on Aug.3 and later died on Aug. 6, according to News 12 CT.

STAMFORD, CT — Djemayley Vernet, a Stamford High School student and former football player, died suddenly last week at the age of 16, News 12 CT reported.

According to a GoFundMe campaign created by members of Vernet's church, Vernet suffered from several seizures in his house on Aug. 3 and was taken to Stamford Hospital where he was put into a medically induced coma. He later died on Aug. 6, the GoFundMe description said.

"He was hardworking, funny, intelligent and a kind. He had just started training for his first job. He was on the roads of Stamford with his newly obtained permit," the fundraiser description said. "Djemay was preparing to enter his junior year of high school, a year full of decisions and exploration. He was too young, just starting out and checking off the milestones of his teen years. We are coming here to ask for financial help with our brothers medical bills and funeral expenses."
